    To,
    Shri Prashanta Rajguru
    Executive Editor,
    Amar Asom, Guwahati

Sub.:- REMINDER to the COMPLAINT sent on 28th January, 2012 via email with the subject ‘Complaint and clarification regarding NEWS item published in 28th January, 2012 issue (Jorhat Edition) of your esteemed daily Amar Asom.’

    Dear Sir,
We would like to express serious concern at the news item titled ‘Duliajanot Prakton Rashtrapati Dr Kalamok Chaboloi Napale Bohujone’ on page 9 published in the 28TH JANUARY issu of JORHAT EDITION of your esteemed daily ‘AMAR ASOM’. Regarding the same, we would like to state as follows-

    1. The News item started with two wrong information that the school was established in the year 1962, whereas the school was established in the year 1963 and secondly, a cultural procession was taken out on 25th January, whereas the cultural procession was taken out on 10th January, through the main thoroughfares of the oil town of Duliajan.

    2. The news item also carried derogatory remarks about the Principal of Oil India Higher Secondary School, Duliajan, which are incorrect. We hereby would like to challenge the validity of the same.

    3. The news item stated that journalists of some news papers boycotted the function and that due to the weak security provided by the district administration, limited number of journalists were invited. In this regard, we would like to state that, some journalists were not invited as their names were not there in the panel of journalists with the public relation department of the Dibrugarh district administration. However, some journalists whose names also did not appear in the panel, were invitedn as guests.

    4. Regarding Dr Kalam enquiring about why some persons staying outside were not allowed inside is totally false and baseless. When Dr Kalam got down from his car, he was received by Shri Nripendra Kumar Bharali, Director (Human Resource and Business Development), Shri Kulendra Kumar Nath, Executive Director (Exploration and Development) of Oil India Limited, Shrimati Kalpana Baruah Kachari, Principal of Oil India Higher Secondary School, Duliajan and immediately given a traditional welcome by the students and ceremonial honour by the NCC cadets of the school. The organisers also humbly drew Dr Kalam’s notice to the crowd waiting outside security barricade, when he delightfully waved to them.

    5. The programme of visit of Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam to Oil India Higher Secondary School, Duliajan was totally an in – house programme of the school where the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the school was formally inaugurated by Dr Kalam as the chief guest. The Chief Guest also had an interactive session with the students of the school as well as students of nearby educational institutions. As the meeting was meant for students of Oil India Higher Secondary School, Duliajan and nearby educational institutions only, and space inside the school campus was very very limited, so public at large could not at all be invited. However, there was public gathering outside security berricade to have a glimpse of their favourate hero.

    6. However, the news item titled ‘Duliajanor Oil India Vidyalayat Dr Abdul Kalam’ carried with photograph on the first page spoke volumes about the facts which are correct.

    7. So, given the above mentioned facts, we would hereby like to demand an outright withdrawal the news item titled ‘Duliajanot Prakton Rashtrapati Dr Kalamok Chaboloi Napale Bohujone’ and also an unconditional apology from the reporter concerned.

    8. Unconditional apology from the reporter concerned is sought on the newspaper itself, else, we are contemplating pursuing the matter with the appropriate authority.

    Thanking you,

    Nabajyoti Borkakoty
    Joint Secretary,
    Golden Jubilee Celebrations Committee
Oil India Higher Secondary School, Duliajan
